Dad turns 33 – a spelling word story

This week’s spelling words are bold.

On March the 16th I went to the movies with my dad for an early birthday present for him. The movie we were watching was called Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the Movie. Man, that t.v. screen was large. After we finished the movie we went to McDonald’s and I saw the yellow arch. We hopped in our cart (car) and went home. When we got home we played a game of darts. My dad won that one. Dad hit the target almost every time.

And then something hit my mind. “Holy macaroni! I forgot to get Dad a birthday present!!” I asked Dad to let me call Mom and he said “yes.” I told mom that we need to go to the market NOW! We got some party supplies for Dad and a video game. We also got him a dark t-shirt and some garden supplies. And last but not least, I made him a card because I’m such a great artist.

And then another thought hit my mind… how are we going to get this stuff into the house with Dad knowing that we bought it?? So we snuck into the backyard. We opened the backdoor then we just creaked open the door a little bit at a time so Dad wouldn’t know we were there. Then we hid the presents in a place where we knew Dad wouldn’t find them. And then we came in the front door. And then when we walked in the door we said, “Dad, we’re home!” And Dad said, “Hey Jack.”

The next day I woke up earlier than Dad and waited outside of his door and when he woke up I jumped from my hiding spot and yelled “Surprise!!” Dad yelled because he was so surprised. And then I jumped into the kitchen and got his birthday presents and gave them to him.

And he said, “Wow, thanks! But what’s with the gardening supplies? We don’t even have a place to put a garden. Wait a minute…isn’t this a…”

“Yep, it’s a joke!” I said.

What a great story Jack!!! I know when your Dad’s real birthday comes up, in just 3 weeks, you will be able to surprise him with a beautiful card and a nice gift. Maybe you could just make the card to “Mr. RockStar”. He would love that.

It has been a long time since you posted. Keep those great stories coming. Love you! Aunt Gale
